Majority of Carriers Are Participating on Only One SHOP, Atlantic Information Services Survey Finds
Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- The Small Business Health Options Programs (SHOPs) being operated in 32 of the 34 states with federally facilitated exchanges (FFEs) feature 78 different carriers — 67 of which are operating in only one state, according to Atlantic Information Services, Inc. WellPoint’s Anthem subsidiary is offering products on SHOP exchanges in Georgia, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio and Virginia. Illinois-based Health Alliance Medical Plans, which expanded its service area in 2013, is on SHOP exchanges in Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska. Sanford Health Plan is in Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Aetna Inc., Avera Health Plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, CoOportunity Health, Gundersen Lutheran Health Plan, Medica Health Plans and UnitedHealth Group are each listed in two SHOP FFEs.

More data on premium rates and all other aspects of health insurance exchanges will be published in AIS’s Health Insurance Exchange Directory and Factbook, a new resource available this month.
