Malouf Breaks Ground on New Headquarters
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (PRWEB) January 14, 2015 -- Malouf today announced it recently broke ground on a 220,000 square foot office and warehouse facility located in Northern Utah that will serve as its new U.S. headquarters. With an expected completion date of July 2015, the new building will support Malouf’s growing customer and product base.
Malouf teamed up with award-winning design firm, AE URBIA to create a critically reviewed, modern design. The result is a state-of-the-art facility enhancing every aspect of its operations and allows for continued growth. Located in Nibley, Utah, just seven miles south of Malouf’s current U.S. headquarters in Logan, Utah, the building utilizes green construction for high resource efficiency.
Creating an ideal work environment was also a key goal in the new office. Following open office design trends, the space creates a collaborative atmosphere for Malouf’s team. Large skylights and glass walls fill the building with natural light that is complemented by isolated sound design and acoustical lighting.
Observing a growing number of studies on the benefits of employee wellbeing, Malouf’s blueprints also include several health and wellness spaces. Inside is a two story strength and conditioning gym, an indoor basketball court, locker rooms and a complete dining area, run by their corporate chef, where they’ll continue their daily lunch tradition.
In addition, it plans for a complete imaging studio and cyclorama to support growing investments in video and photography. A large showroom will also be part of the building, something Malouf has not previously had. Lastly, the building includes another warehouse to support its growing product line, currently at over 2,000 SKUs.
“With a rapidly growing customer base we needed to expand our infrastructure to support our growing team and product line,” said Sam Malouf, the CEO of Malouf. “Our new space will bring us together to help facilitate better communication and more collaboration.”
Contrasted to their first space, a two-bedroom apartment that doubled as a living space for Malouf’s founders, Sam and Kacie Malouf, the new building is a big milestone for the company which opened its doors just 11 years ago with one product, a line of Egyptian cotton sheets.
“Although our team consists of many more people and we’re moving to bigger and bigger places, we still hang on to the family feel,” said Sam Malouf. “We're a close knit group of people who work well together on and off the court.”
Earlier this year, Malouf announced the acquisition of a 675,000 square foot building, formerly owned by La-Z-Boy, that more than doubled the space it had previously and put them over the 1 million square feet mark. Malouf will retain ownership of their current office and warehousing spaces in preparation for needed growth expansion through upcoming product line additions.
