Mammoth Lakes Resort Adds Spa, Gets New Name: Renamed Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa Provides Guest Treatments and Day Spa
Mammoth Lakes, CA (PRWEB) December 20, 2013 -- The recently renovated Sierra Nevada Resort in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., is adding a new 2,500-square-foot spa in December 2013 and changing its name to the Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa, announced General Manager Brent Truax. The addition of the new spa, opening in time for the holidays, will make the Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa Mammoth’s first and only hotel with a full-service spa.
“We realized a need in Mammoth Lakes for a day spa,” says Truax. “The new spa will cater to guests and locals looking for a massage and steam after a good ski day on the mountain.”
The new spa at the Sierra Nevada Resort includes a rustic-luxe waiting room with juice bar, a steam and sauna, and four treatment rooms with fireplaces designed so guests can enjoy watching the flames while receiving treatments. The spa will specialize in body treatments and wraps as well as offering relaxing facials. “Our spa offerings will include treatments that infuse local herbs, flora and ingredients we have in the Mammoth area,” says Truax.
Truax brings 20 years of spa background to the new services on offer at the resort. In addition to overseeing the Westin Monache in Mammoth Lakes as General Manager prior to joining the Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa, his past experience includes serving as general manager for The Peaks Resort in Telluride, Colo.; Canyon Ranch Resort & Spa in Tucson, Ariz.; and the acclaimed Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Skaneateles, N.Y.
Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa owners Jim and Nancy Demetriades bring an insiders’ perspective to what Mammoth visitors and locals want. They often stay at the resort with their five children, friends and family. “Our original intention was to create a place for the community to gather as well as for out of town guests to call their home in the mountains,” says Nancy. Jim agrees, adding, “We’re continuously taking the resort to the next level. The addition of the full-service spa is just another step to make sure the Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa provides the most amenities and best value in Mammoth.”
The Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa recently completed an extensive renovation and includes 15 fireplace suites, six three-bedroom chalets, three six-bedroom chalets, three restaurants and Duke’s Bar & Fireside Lounge, an intimate bar in the hotel lobby named for famous former guest John Wayne. Luxurious new room amenities include heated bathroom floors and toilet seats, soaking tubs, large waterfall showers, kitchenettes, fireplaces, and real leather lounge chairs.
Company Information: Just a short drive from the Mammoth Mountain ski lift – and walking distance to Mammoth Lakes’ restaurants and shops – the 149-room in-town Sierra Nevada Resort & Spa offers lodging choices from deluxe rooms and fireplace suites to multi-bedroom chalets perfect for families or groups. Amenities include flat screen TVs, free WiFi, cable, coffee makers, down-alternative comforters and triple-sheeted beds in all rooms. Three distinctive restaurants are located on the resort’s six-acre property, including The Red Lantern, with traditional Chinese food, Rafters Restaurant and Lounge; and Jimmy’s Taverna, which opened in December 2012 to acclaim as “the best new restaurant in Mammoth,” specializing in wood-fired seafood and traditional Greek cuisine.
