Man Killed and Clemson Football Player Injured in Vehicle Accident
Forest City, NC (PRWEB) October 30, 2013 -- According to reports from Fox Carolina (9-21-2013), Carlos Watkins, a Clemson defensive tackle was injured in an accident and his friend was killed. Both men were passengers of a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old male.

"The cause of the accident was when the driver lost control to make a left turn," said Auger.
This caused the vehicle to slide into an electrical pole and snap it in half. Power lines fell on top of the vehicle after colliding with the pole. (Fox Carolina, 9-21-2013).

Fox Carolina reported that Dache Gossett, 21 died at the scene. He was ejected from the vehicle, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol officers. Watkins was trapped in the vehicle for nearly 90 minutes while crews worked to shut off the power and get the 300 pound football player out of the vehicle.Watkins was rushed to the hospital, but is doing fine. The driver didn't suffer any injuries. He is scheduled to meet with the Rutherford County District Attorney.
Fox stated that the Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney addressed the media and stated the team is very fortunate that the injuries to Watkins were not serious. He also stated the team will rally around Watkins and help with the grieving of his friend.
