Manitowoc Orthodontist Produces A New Movie About Bullying
Manitowoc Wisconsin (PRWEB) November 18, 2013 -- Dr. Jeff Just of Just Orthodontics in Manitowoc, Wisconsin is a devoted community leader the practice is well-established as supporters of projects as diverse as supporting a new city aquatic center to helping the local high school renovate their old field house.
Community service is a cornerstone of the Just family and Dr. Just, the third generation orthodontist continues to carry this torch. Because of this strong community focus, when the issue of bullying was raised in conversation in spring of 2013, a nerve was struck.
The spark that that conversation ignited turned into "EOB", a brand new short film about the problem of bullying. It's as issue that young people, including patients of Just Orthodontics, face far too frequently. Filmed bya professional production company over the summer of 2013, featuring over 80 local actors, and shot entirely in Manitowoc, "EOB" is the fictional story of Elizabeth Octavia Baxter, the young victim of extremely harsh bullying.
According to Dr. Just, "The reason we produced this movie is because we see the problem every single day. Children come in to our practice each day unwilling to smile because they are embarrassed and teased daily. We see the amazing transformation orthodntic treatment has on a child's self-confidence and the perception of themselves yet we feel helpless in addressign the real problem - the bully. Attached to each smile is a human being, still in pain."
EOB is Just Orthodontics' outreach effort to address this complex and pervasive issue. The film, created for Dr. Just by Milwaukee production company, Jim DeKoch and Associates, is their vehicle. The film debuted on October 23 to a packed house of cast crew teachers and area VIP's including Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels. Community reception is strong and plans are underway for distribution of the film and study guide to all the schools in the Manitowoc and Sheboygan areas. Interest in the film and study guide is rapidly spreading throughout Wisconsin.
Even though the movie was filmed entirely in Manitowoc, it could be located in Anywhere, USA. The potential national appeal is another motivator for Dr. Just. He says, "Kids all over America face these issues and we want to help anyone who's in crisis. We're dedicated to making a difference within our own community and community beyond."
