Maple Hill Golf Supports Alzheimer’s Foundation at 5th Annual Pops Invitational
Grandville, MI (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 -- For 33 years, you could count on two things at Maple Hill Golf; a warm smile and firm handshake from Ron Kitchen. Better known as “Pops” by those who knew him, Mr. Kitchen and his wife, Joan, purchased Maple Hill Golf Course in 1978. Since then, Maple Hill Golf has become the number 1 golf retailer in Michigan and a local favorite for customers looking to demo the latest golf equipment or enjoy a round of golf on the 18-hole, executive length course. Ownership and management of Maple Hill Golf has stayed in the family, moving first to Ron’s son, Rich Kitchen, and now to his grandson’s, Andy and Bob Kitchen.
Ron “Pops” Kitchen passed away in 2008 from complications with Alzheimer’s disease. To honor him, the Kitchen family began hosting the Annual Pops Invitational, now in its 5th year, with proceeds benefiting the Alzheimer’s Foundation. The 4-Person Scramble Event hosted 280 participants in 2012 with $4000 in prizes given away and over $3000 donated to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. This year’s event features a double shotgun start (8am and 2pm) on Friday, August 23 and an 8am shotgun start on Saturday, August 24. Cost is $240 per team and includes $20 in Golf Bucks toward greens and cart fees during the 2013 season as well as the 18-hole event, lunch, door prizes, and golf prizes.
