Maplesoft Enters Agreement with Perimeter Institute to Become its Educational Outreach Champion
Waterloo, Ontario (PRWEB) July 13, 2016 -- Waterloo, Canada; July 13, 2016: Maplesoft has entered into an agreement with Perimeter Institute (PI), a leading centre for scientific research, training and educational outreach in foundational theoretical physics, to serve as its Educational Outreach Champion. As part of the agreement, Maplesoft will provide financial support and greater access to its education technology software to researchers, teachers and students at PI. Maplesoft’s contributions will support Perimeter’s Teacher Network Training activities, core educational resources, development of online course material, the EinsteinPlus workshop for high school teachers, and the International Summer School for Young Physicists (ISSYP). Perimeter will also facilitate the distribution of complimentary Maplesoft product licenses to students and teachers for personal use.
Maplesoft’s online courseware development and deployment platform focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs, Möbius, will be used by PI to offer online content for suitable programs at the Institute. The ISSYP program at Perimeter has been using Möbius for two years now, offering preparatory course materials that aid in making the summer program a more productive and dynamic experience for the students. Researchers, teachers and students will also have access to Maple, the symbolic math computation tool from Maplesoft that makes it extremely easy to analyze, explore, visualize, and solve mathematical problems. As part of the agreement, Maplesoft will also offer lectures and seminars to PI staff and researchers on topics of shared interest.
“Our partnership is strong because we both understand the importance of education,” said Greg Dick, Director of Educational Outreach at Perimeter Institute. “Together, Maplesoft and Perimeter want to ensure the next generation of leaders and innovators have 21st century math and physics skills, and are prepared for a quantum future. Maplesoft’s educational technologies, such as Möbius and Maple, are an excellent way to deliver Perimeter’s unique outreach programs and promote improved learning in physics and math.”
“This partnership will let researchers, students and teachers nurtured by Perimeter Institute gain greater access to Maplesoft’s cutting edge technology, providing enhanced learning opportunities and accelerated potential for excellence in the field of math and physics,” said Jim Cooper, President and CEO, Maplesoft. “Maplesoft technology, combined with PI’s innovative programs, will build a stronger foundation for students, provide a bridge between high school curriculum and university-level education, and enhance university readiness in STEM courses.”
The agreement with PI is part of Maplesoft’s partnership initiatives with similar institutions such as the Fields Institute and the Mathematical Science Research Institute, keeping the company connected with leading-edge research and academic programs in science and mathematics.

About Perimeter Institute
Perimeter Institute is the world’s largest research hub devoted to theoretical physics. The independent Institute was founded in 1999 to foster breakthroughs in the fundamental understanding of our universe, from the smallest particles to the entire cosmos. Research at Perimeter is motivated by the understanding that fundamental science advances human knowledge and catalyzes innovation, and that today’s theoretical physics is tomorrow’s technology. Located in the Region of Waterloo, the not-for-profit Institute is a unique public-private endeavour, including the Governments of Ontario and Canada, that enables cutting-edge research, trains the next generation of scientific pioneers, and shares the power of physics through award-winning educational outreach and public engagement.
