Marc de Grazia Selections Announces Alliance with Dievole
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) April 06, 2015 -- Marc de Grazia Selections is pleased to announce the reintroduction of Dievole Chianti Classico into the United States.
The Dievole property is located just outside of Siena in the Tuscan township of Castelnuovo Berardenga. The estate was purchased early in 2012 by Argentine entrepreneur Alejandro Pedro Bulgheroni, shortly before he bought Podere Brizio, a Montalcino winery that has long been imported by Marc de Grazia Selections. Bulgheroni has since invested heavily in upgrading all aspects of the estate’s viticulture and enology, along with improving Dievole’s guest facilities and 4-Star accommodations, including its restaurants, spa, gardens and local hiking trails.
Marco de Grazia founded Marc de Grazia Selections in 1980, offering wine sourced from every corner of Italy. The company’s focus is on terroir and producers dedicated to expressing a sense of place, with emphasis on autochthonous grape varieties grown with sustainable methodology.
Says Iano de Grazia, Administrator of Marc de Grazia Selections, “Bringing a brand back into the market can be daunting, but we immediately recognized how extraordinary this Dievole project is. This is not just new owners and directors, Dievole is essentially reborn. Mr. Bulgheroni and his team are bringing to life a vision for the estate that will give an impetus to the entire region. The estate’s focus is purely Sangiovese and its old side-kicks, Canaiolo and Colorino.”
Dievole’s President Enrique Amalgro is also thrilled with the new business relationship, noting: “de Grazia Selections’ mix of old world culture blended with new world creativity makes them a perfect fit for Dievole. With 900+ years of history at the estate, we sought a partner for the US who would embrace and enhance our traditional values, not change them. Marco and Iano respect the land and our intentions for it. The de Grazia team is perfectly poised to represent Dievole, seeing to it that our wine reaches members of the trade and consumers who appreciate traditional Chianti Classico.
“When we arrived in 2012,” says winemaker Alberto Antonini, “we went right to work to revitalize the vineyards. It is a tribute to this terroir that the soils responded so quickly.” No additives are allowed, not even natural fertilizers. Antonio noted, “The representatives selling such products as yeast, herbicides, etc., no longer bother knocking on our door. Likewise for barrique sellers.”
Dievole wines have been withheld from the US market since the new regime arrived. “Absence doesn’t necessarily make the heart grow fonder” states Anne Zakin, President of de Grazia Imports, “but it gave us some breathing room, and will allow us to be certain that the trade and consumers are aware of the changes that have been made at Dievole. It’s the same name, but the wines are much improved. This relationship is a big step for MdG in terms of Dievole’s size and scope. Along with the improvements in wine quality, the estate is large enough that we’ll be able to ensure consistency in supply for our on-premise clientele, even as we rebuild Dievole awareness at retail.”
Marc de Grazia Imports has received the 2013 Dievole Chianti Classico and is available immediately. The wine will be featured at the de Grazia Imports trade tasting in New York City on April 15th and will be poured during the Grand Tastings at Pebble Beach Food & Wine on April 11 and 12.
