Maricopa County Industrial Development Authority Elects Greenberg Traurig’s Rebecca Burnham to Board
PHOENIX (PRWEB) January 24, 2018 -- Maricopa County Industrial Development Authority (MCIDA) has elected Greenberg Traurig, LLP Shareholder Rebecca Burnham to serve on its board of directors. Burnham was elected to a 6-year term on Dec. 13, 2017.
Founded in 1973, the mission of the Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors is to create and maintain jobs within Maricopa County and assist the residents of the County to achieve a better standard of living and way of life. It does this by offering private borrowers an opportunity to finance their projects with tax-exempt (below market) interest from private lenders, without involving government funding. With more than 37 years of experience, Burnham, based in the Phoenix office, is practiced in legislative and public policy matters pertinent to the real estate industry. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University, where she graduated magna cum laude, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Burnham holds many professional accolades. She was honored as one of AZRE’s Most Influential Women in 2016, named “Top 100 Lawyers in Arizona” by AZ Business Magazine in 2016 and 2017, and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America from 1998-2018 and Chambers and Partners from 2005-2017.
Outside of her professional life, Burnham is active in her community. She is the chairman of the board of directors for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Inc. She is a member of the ASU Foundation Women and Philanthropy program, Urban Land Institute, Valley Partnership and Valley of the Sun United Way, Tocqueville Society, Arizona Women’s Forum, and Home Builder’s Association of Central Arizona. She also sits on the Child Crisis Arizona Foundation board of directors.
About Maricopa County IDA
The Maricopa County IDA is a conduit issuer that was created in accordance with Arizona law to provide lower cost financing for qualified Projects through the issuance of revenue bonds. The Maricopa County IDA’s Bonds are exempt from Arizona income taxation and, if in compliance with the Internal Revenue Code, the bonds can be exempt from federal income taxation.
