Mark Feldstein and Associates Advises Canadian Tax Payers: You Can Refute the CRA Without Fear of Reprisal Under Taxpayer Bill of Rights
New York, New York (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Mark Feldstein and Associates today advises Canadian tax payers of the recent addition of the 16th right to the Taxpayers Bill of Rights ensuring that the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is supposed to explain the reasons behind its decisions, but when it fails to do so, Canadians can complain without fear of reprisal. Business Review, after surveying the leading Toronto accounting firms, today recommends Mark Feldstein and Associates as a top educational source for providing Canadian taxpayers with their rights and up to date CRA information.
The addition of the 16th right to the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights is set to increase confidence that the system would be administered fairly. A misconduct complaint made by a taxpayer regarding a CRA employee will no longer be submitted to the employee’s supervisor, but it will be directed to a separate office within the CRA to ensure fairness.
“When the CRA makes a decision about your tax or benefit affairs, it must explain that decision and tell you about your rights and obligations,” says Mark Feldstein, Founder of Mark Feldstein and Associates. “If a taxpayer feels as though he or she is receiving unfair treatment from a CRA employee when calling to discuss a judgement, they can now make a complaint without fear of any unfair repercussions. Under the 16th right, a taxpayer can now issue a complaint within a separate department of the CRA similar to Internal Affairs within a police department."
Any Canadian taxpayer who feels as though he or she has been a victim of intimidating or unfair behaviour from a CRA employee, or if an employee or supervisor has failed to explain a ruling on a decision, a complaint can be filed by calling a toll-free number to call the Office of the Taxpayers’ Ombudsman, 1-866-586-3839. Those outside Canada and the United States can call 613-946-2310. Collect calls are accepted.
