Marrakech, Inc. Celebrates 45 Years with Gala and Auction Event
New Haven, CT (PRWEB) October 27, 2016 -- The theme of this year’s Gala is The Marrakech Hollywood Gala and will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Toyota Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT. The event will include dinner, cocktails, both a silent and live auction, dancing and music from Musical Intervention and Third Shift. Tickets to the Gala begin at $175.00.
Beginning in the early 1970s, Marrakech has been impacting lives by providing a broad array of programs and services for persons with disabilities as well as for those with similar service needs. Marrakech has been a pillar in several Southern CT, communities by assisting individuals who face barriers to securing employment, connecting to necessary supportive services, accessing housing, and participating fully as contributing members of the community.
Marrakech’s annual Gala and auction is the organization’s primary fundraising event of the year. Proceeds from the Gala help ensure that Marrakech can provide fuel assistance, deposits for new apartments, food, clothing, furniture and other support for life’s unexpected happenings to individuals and families served. Funds will also provide the social opportunities that allow individuals to develop a sense of belonging among peers and with other members of their communities.
“In many cases, people come to Marrakech with nothing and require everything from the bed they are sleeping on to the pots and pans they use to make dinner each night. Marrakech provides these things regardless of funding because it makes their lives better, which means it gives them the chance to be even more successful on their journeys toward independence. It is important, some may say most important, to provide these ’extras’ because when you think about it, they are not extras at all. They are needs. Donating an item to the auction, becoming a Gala sponsor or purchasing a ticket will directly impact someone’s quality of life,” says Heather LaTorra, President and CEO of Marrakech, Inc.
This year’s Master of Ceremonies for the Gala is Frank Sesno, Director, School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University. Honorary Chairs include Jennifer DelMonico, Esq. of Murtha Cullina and Bruce DelMonico of Yale University, School of Management. Title Sponsors for this year’s event include Murtha Cullina, LLP; L.H. Brenner, Inc. Insurance; Thompson & Peck, Inc.
