Marriott International Celebrates Topping Off of New Plano Legacy West Renaissance Hotel
Plano, TX (PRWEB) August 05, 2016 -- Nearly a year into construction, the luxury hotel sits on Legacy Drive near the Dallas North Tollway and will serve as the south anchor for the $2 billion Legacy West urban mixed-use project. Neighboring companies include corporate headquarters for JC Penney, Toyota, Liberty Mutual and FedEx. Developer Daniel Moon from the Sam Moon Group explains, “Northwest Collin County is an emerging hub of international business with close proximity to DFW International Airport and some of the world’s most vibrant companies. Building our hotel in Legacy West made sense as it provides us with the opportunity to create an environment that’s exciting for business travelers and local families alike.”
He continues, “From our 16 suites, to our pool cabanas and spa, to the outdoor terrace with fire-pits and the Asian water feature, this hotel was designed to entertain and inspire. We want our conference or business guests to have just as much fun in Plano as our leisure guests.”
The 15-story, 304-guest room hotel will feature a modern, upscale design and will include more than 26,000 sq. ft. of conference and meeting space. With a high-energy lobby and bar, “Texas Tea” gourmet market, on-site Asian-fusion restaurant, and a third-floor amenity deck with a swimming pool, bar, concierge lounge, fitness center, and event space, the hotel was designed to be a destination unto itself.
Jim Looney, interior designer with Looney & Associates, details, “Renaissance Plano exudes global sophistication in its design by blending the best of Texas with Asian sensibility to create a ‘West of Zen’ retreat for travelers. Guests will feel at home in the new hotel, which will come complete with features such as a glass-walled grand ballroom full of natural light and guest rooms inclusive of Asian-inspired baths.”
Michael Strohmer, architect with HKS, describes the hotel’s design as a play on the character of the plains of Texas. “The hotel embodies wide-open spaces and illustrates the natural movement of the elements across the land. This is expressed through a grand and lively lobby space which provides the perfect atmosphere to mix and mingle. In addition, water and fire features and natural materials are used throughout to really anchor the East meets Southwest vibe.”
Terri Dolan concludes, “Marriott International and the Renaissance Hotels brand are eager to introduce our newest masterpiece to North Texas. We are working to ensure that every trip, business or pleasure, is transformed into an eye-opening and unforgettable journey.”
Brasfield & Gorrie is teaming with architect HKS Hospitality Group on this project for developer Sam Moon Group. Other project team members include Looney & Associates, Blum Engineering, Brockett/Davis/Drake Inc., Bancorp South and Jones Lang LaSalle.
