Marstel-Day, LLC Celebrates its 13th Earth Day, Partnering with the Friends of Sausal Creek (FOSC) in Oakland, CA
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) April 21, 2014 -- Marstel-Day, LLC has a long-standing Earth Day tradition of participating in a local conservation effort across the country where its offices are located. To honor this company-wide Earth Day tradition, the Western Region Office in Oakland has partnered with the Friends of Sausal Creek (FOSC), a non-profit dedicated to protecting Sausal Creek and its watershed. Formed in 1996, FOSC is committed to preserving the creek and watershed as a natural resource for the greater Oakland community. FOSC's mission is to promote awareness and appreciation the Sausal Creek Watershed and to inspire action that will help preserve and protect the creek and its watershed as both natural and community resources. The Marstel-Day team was enthusiastic about participating in the ongoing conservation of this vital local resource that encompasses 2,656 acres in Oakland. The headwaters of Sausal Creek arise in the Oakland hills, and the creek flows through the city, discharging into the tidal canal that separates the island of Alameda from Oakland, which in turn flows into San Francisco Bay.
FOSC maintains multiple programs to protect Sausal Creek, which include several restoration sites throughout the watershed, a native plant nursery and bird monitoring. Marstel-Day supported the FOSC, by transplanting, weeding, fertilizing, pot washing, and seed cleaning at the Joaquin Miller Court Trailhead which is one of the primary Sausal Creek locations within the East Bay Regional Park District.
The Marstel-Day Oakland team is excited to join together and support FOSC's mission and play a significant and vital role in community volunteering and preservation of this beautiful local natural resource. President and CEO, Rebecca R. Rubin noted, "Our office in Oakland reminds us, that our conservation mission can be found and thrives within an urban environment such as Oakland, which maintains a richness of much needed community and natural resources." Ms. Rubin spent Earth Day in Oakland volunteering with the FOSC.
