Martine Imon Shares Empowering Story In Memoir
RICHMOND, N. H. On December 17, 1993, a freak accident split Wayne’s (the author’s husband) pelvis in half to create what is known as an “open book” fracture, a life threatening injury with a lifelong impact on the survivor. From the moment his wife, Martine, was told that he may not survive, to the ongoing pain and torment of being emasculated and impotent, this book details a brave journey to recovery while having to reconcile with a life, and a marriage, forever changed.
Imon tells the first-hand account of Wayne’s experience being split at the pelvis and how he overcame his grim prognosis. All through her husband’s survival, rehabilitation (both physical and emotional), pain and suffering, the kind of healing that empowers and transcends individuals shine through. The accident has led the author and her husband to find out that they could express their intimacy in other ways; and that faith, hope and love had surely sustained them through the rough time.
