Marvin Guadalupe Romero's New Book "Mestizo the Old Man" Is About a Man Who Has Lost His Memory and Prays to Have It Restored, but Some Memories Are Best Left Forgotten
(PRWEB) November 02, 2017 -- Marvin Guadalupe Romero, a former marine, police officer, and postal worker, has completed his new book “Mestizo the Old Man”: an emotional tale about how a computerized high-tech society can cause elders to be misunderstood and neglected. Some are sent to old age homes; others suffer in silence in their own frail, impotent world.
According to Romero, “I was born in one of the barrios in the town of Las Vegas, New Mexico, located at the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain. I lived my childhood surrounded by old customs, traditions, and folklore that the neighbors practiced. My grandmother was the midwife and curandera and my grandfather was the counselor and political activist of the barrio. My favorite things from the barrio included the matanzas, the parade of their patron saint, traditional wedding marches, and most of all scary tales of La Lloroña and El Coco told by my grandfather to the children gathered around the old potbelly stove, which influenced the writing of my novel ‘Mestizo.’”
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Marvin Guadalupe Romero’s riveting tale focuses on an old man with amnesia and his concern as to whether his life was fruitful and if he had a positive impact on others.
Then one day when he was asleep in the portal of his adobe home by the bosque on the Rio Grande in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he heard a mystical voice calling his name and he awoke. He looked up toward the sky and heard the angelic voice calling him, “Diego! Diego! I am going to restore your memory, but beware for there are tragic events in your past you will not want to remember!” And with those words etched in his mind he began to recall his past, weary of the unknown occurrences he would have to face.
Readers who wish to experience this intriguing work can purchase “Mestizo the Old Man” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Kobo, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
