Marvin Kerkstra of CITGO Named PQIA Advisory Board Chairman
Metuchen, NJ (PRWEB) August 23, 2016 -- Marvin Kerkstra, Manager, Lubricants Technology, CITGO Petroleum Corporation, has been named Chairman of the Petroleum Quality Institute of America's Advisory Board. Kerkstra succeeds Steve Mulvaney as the PQIA Advisory Board Chairman who is retiring from Chevron later this year. Harry Hazen, North America Marketing Manager for Chevron Lubricants, will step in to replace Steve as Chevron's representative on the PQIA Advisory Board.
"Whereas it's bittersweet to see Steve Mulvaney ride off into his retirement, we are very pleased that Marvin has accepted the leadership role as Chairman of the Advisory Board," says Thomas F. Glenn, President of PQIA. To this, Glenn adds, "CITGO is a founding supporter of PQIA and has been a strong advocate of our mission to serve the consumers of lubricants by testing and reporting on the quality and integrity of lubricants in the marketplace." Further, Glenn adds, "Marvin has brought a wealth of talent and expertise to the board since joining in 2013 and I look forward to working with him alongside our other Advisory Board members as we continue to advance our mission."
Kerkstra says he welcomes the opportunity to chair the PQIA Advisory Board. "The Petroleum Quality Institute of America's Advisory Board comprises a distinguished group of professionals with prominence covering a broad range of fields in the lubricants business. I look forward to advancing the effectiveness of the Advisory Board in its role to provide PQIA's management with guidance, advice, recommendations and counsel in how to best pursue PQIA's purpose and mission," he said.
A civil engineer by training, Kerkstra has served as manager of lubricants technology for CITGO Lubricants since 2010. His responsibilities entail Product Development, Technical Services, Compliance, and Quality Assurance. Since joining CITGO Lubricants in 1996, Marvin has held various management and technical roles. These positions include manager of manufacturing, manager of lubricants supply chain & base oil sales, and plant manager. Prior to 1996, Marvin held a variety of management and engineering roles in CITGO Terminal and Pipeline Operations. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
