Maryville University Announces New Minority Scholarship
St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) February 06, 2015 -- Maryville University has announced the Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship, a new financial aid opportunity for incoming freshman. The scholarship serves undergraduate, academically strong students from groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
“Donald Suggs’ life is a testimony to the intellectual energy and passion possessed by all the citizens of St. Louis,” said President Mark Lombardi, PhD. “This scholarship represents Maryville’s commitment to providing every member of this community the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed.”
The first Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship will be awarded for the Fall 2015 semester; the application deadline is Friday, Feb. 13. Interested students may apply online, or call the Office of Admissions: 314.529.9350. Preference is given to St. Louis area applicants.
With 100 percent of tuition and all room and board expenses covered, the Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship is valued at more than $143,000 over four years, and is renewable over four years. Minimum qualifications include 23 ACT score and 3.25 GPA.
The scholarship honors the continuing legacy of Dr. Donald M. Suggs, retired oral surgeon, publisher of The St. Louis American, and longtime philanthropist and community leader.
