Mashable and Social Good Partners Announce +SocialGood UK
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 11, 2015 -- Mashable, the leading media company for the Connected Generation, and its Social Good Summit partners today announced it will host +SocialGood UK, a half-day conference focusing on how technology and digital are driving social change in the United Kingdom, Europe and around the world.
Recognizing that the voices and ideas of concerned global citizens connected by social media and technology can be powerful forces for change, Mashable, the United Nations Foundation, 92nd Street Y, and the United Nations Development Programme continue to look for new and effective ways of bringing that conversation offline with conferences like +SocialGood UK.
“With the UK general election taking place later this year, many social issues are on the table that will impact not just the British population, but the Connected Generation globally,” said Stacy Martinet, Chief Marketing Officer of Mashable. “We felt that there was no better time than now to bring the Social Good movement and energize the global +SocialGood community in London. We couldn’t be more excited to convene some of the most influential minds to discuss the pressing issues of our day.”
+SocialGood UK, like Social Good Summit, will continue to utilize the hashtag #2030NOW to bring audiences from around the world into the discussion.
Mashable and its Social Good Summit partners look to foster the trend of the Connected Generation embracing and interacting with content about how tech and digital are affecting important issues like local and global economics, climate and energy change, and urban and overall social developments, by bringing that conversation to life offline.
+SocialGood UK will convene elected officials, leaders in new media, technology, activists and more to discuss the most important issues being highlighted in this year’s UK general election.
As the home of Mashable’s second largest audience globally, the location of its first full international office, and a large hub for the digital revolution, the UK audience is invested in how digital is changing the world and how they can have a voice in both global and local issues.
+SocialGood UK will draw from the successful model of the +SocialGood community. It’s inspired by the annual Social Good Summit, held each September in New York alongside the UN General Assembly Week, which aims to open the dialogues taking place around the UN General Assembly to citizens including innovators, activists and entrepreneurs around the globe.
+SocialGood conferences have been held across the world in cities like New York, Rio De Janeiro, India, Mogadishu and Hong Kong, with lively and active participation from young and seasoned entrepreneurs, industries, eminent philanthropists, activists, social media experts and government organizations.
The goal of the Social Good Summit and +SocialGood UK is to empower people everywhere to have their voices heard. The Social Good movement provides a shared platform for a global call to action to create the kind of world we want and identify innovations that can help make that world a reality.
