Mashable Announces Andy Fixmer As Its Special Projects Editor
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 07, 2014 -- Mashable, the leading media company for the Connected Generation and the voice of digital culture, announced today that it has hired Andy Fixmer as its Special Projects Editor.
In this role, Fixmer will produce big-picture stories that focus on the forces changing technology, entertainment and social media. Working directly with editors across the newsroom and with an array of storytelling tools, he will bring deep reporting on topics that connect audiences with their love of digital devices and the content they deliver.

Fixmer joins Mashable from Bloomberg News, where he most recently covered film, television and music. Since joining in 2006 to cover Walt Disney Co. and DreamWorks Animation, Fixmer has expanded the organization’s coverage to touch on the entire entertainment industry. He also contributed to Bloomberg Businessweek on subjects ranging from the disruption in streaming music business to the popularity of Christmas albums, and has appeared on Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Radio.
Prior to Bloomberg News, he was a reporter for the Los Angeles Business Journal, covering the real estate boom. Previously he was a reporter for the Santa Monica Daily Press and The Times of Trenton in New Jersey. He also covered the Internet’s early disruption of car dealerships and the web’s impact on college radio as a freelance reporter for The New York Times.
In 2013, the Los Angeles Press Club named Fixmer as a finalist for Entertainment Journalist of the Year, and in 2007, NewsBios named him to its list of “30 Under 30” influential journalists.
Fixmer is a graduate of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey-New Brunswick, where he studied history and economics.
