Mashable Announces Eric Korsh as Director of Mashable Studios
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 01, 2015 -- Mashable, the leading media company for the digital generation, announced today that it has hired Eric Korsh to lead Mashable Studios, a new division of the company, which will develop and create premium video programing for Mashable as well as work directly with the company’s advertising partners to create branded entertainment.
Korsh brings a host of video, entertainment and agency experience to Mashable, ranging from leading the development and execution of digital brand, social and content strategies for top-tier clients as SVP of Brand Social & Content at DigitasLBi Studios, to spending over 25 years as a producer of episodic television, TV commercials, feature and documentary films, and music videos.
He was formerly Chief Operating Officer of Scout Productions, creators and producers of the Emmy-winning Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and other episodic TV series for ABC, Bravo, CBS, ABC Family and MTV. And as a TV commercial Executive Producer, Korsh has previously worked with Oscar winners Errol Morris, Robert Richardson and Hank Corwin.
Korsh will build a team to develop, produce and distribute a slate of original video programing and develop custom video solutions across a variety of formats and distribution platforms for Mashable’s brand partners. Korsh will be reporting to Jim Roberts, Mashable’s Executive Editor and Chief Content Officer, as well as Adam Ostrow, Mashable’s Chief Strategy Officer.
“With the addition of Eric to our team, we have a great opportunity to diversify our storytelling voice with compelling videos that our global audience can engage with and share,” Roberts said.
“We see branded video entertainment as core to our long-term strategy, and Eric brings a tremendous track record of both innovating for clients and creating original programming that resonates with audiences like ours,” Ostrow said. “Mashable Studios will build on the company’s history of telling stories that inform, inspire and entertain the digital generation while working with our brand partners to tell their stories in new ways.”
The creation of Mashable Studios represents the company’s latest investment in expanding its premium video content offerings since raising its $17 million Series B round in January. In March, Mashable announced the addition of Mike Schmidt as its Director of Editorial Video. Under Schmidt, Mashable is expanding its video offering to mirror the breadth and depth of editorial coverage that it provides to its 42 million monthly visitors and to its 23 million social media followers.
