Master Guild Blade Company participates in Coutellia, in Thiers, France, Europe's largest cutlery and knife expo
Thiers, France (PRWEB) August 09, 2016 -- For the 26th year, on May 15 and 16, 2016, discriminating cutlery and knife enthusiasts from all over the world converged in Thiers, France, the cutlery capital of Europe to admire and purchase the world's finest cutlery and knife creations and to see live demonstrations of the cutler's art.
Fraternal cutler orders and guilds each had tents and pavilions in which they demonstrated their craft and traditions. Notably, the "Le Thiers" Guild, perhaps the most exclusive French association of tested knife makers hosted a workshop pavilion where visitors could make their own knife under the instruction and supervision of a "Le Thiers" master cutler.
The French association of cork screw makers had their own tent with a fascinating live demonstration of making the traditional "tire bouchon" (cork screw) so integral to many French knife styles. Crowds watched and even participated in the art of knife handle making form natural horn and in the open fire forging of blades.
Inside the main halls, hundreds of blade makers from all over the world, organized in rows by country, displayed their best knife and cutlery creations. Suppliers of blade making materials and tools showed the latest offerings. From traditional natural woods and genuine horn to exotics such as 50,000 year old fossilized mammoth ivory from northern Europe, blade makers could select any possibility. Fine steels of all types including Damascus steel with over 500 layers were offered in blanks and billets.
Master Guild Blade Company , http://www.masterguildblade.com, was founded from a life-long appreciation for fine knives and its mission is to represent, promote and advocate small, traditional French blade makers and help them reach customers and enthusiasts in the "New World". Master Guild attends Coutellia and visits small knife makers to seek out the best offerings from great people. Master Guild believes people make fine blades, not companies and it is all about relationships and friendship.
