Matt Davis Joins SCM World as Senior Vice President, Research

Recognised as one of the industry’s emerging visionaries, Davis will focus on curating SCM World's customer centricity, digital demand, omnichannel and sustainability content.

Prior to SCM World, Davis was the lead analyst for supply chain strategy, digital innovation and segmentation as a research director at Gartner. Between 2010 and 2013, he pioneered some of the first perspectives on supply chain's future in supporting digital and solutions business models. Additionally, by publishing over 30 supply chain segmentation reports from his work with 130 cross-industry leaders, he has emerged as one of the world's leading voices on the subject.
Davis’ experience also includes several cross-functional roles at Dell where he gained practical experience in designing and implementing supply chain strategy. After rotations through logistics, demand management, sales operations and customer service, he joined Dell's Supply Chain Strategy organisation where he and his team designed one of the first successful end-to-end supply chain segmentation initiatives. The effort ultimately resulted in 30 percent total cost reduction, 99 percent complexity reduction and a double-digit increase to forecast accuracy.

Davis is a Six Sigma black belt, a lean change agent and SCOR model expert. He spent six years as a board member for the Supply Chain Council where he helped drive SCOR strategy and development. Davis has a supply chain degree from Penn State and an MBA from the University of Texas. He currently assists in Penn State's development of the future workforce by serving as a Faculty Affiliate.
