Richland, Washington (PRWEB) February 04, 2014 -- Matthew H. Smith has assumed the position of Manager of the Dade Moeller Training Academy, which specializes in radiation and occupational safety training. A Senior Health Physicist at Dade Moeller for 12 years, Smith has extensive experience in training federal and private sector professionals on radiological safety and detection topics. He takes the reins from Judson L. Kenoyer, who is retiring after 13 years of service to Dade Moeller.
Smith will manage all company-wide training activities, including classroom courses offered at training centers in Gaithersburg, Md., and Las Vegas, Nev., as well as online, in addition to customized training courses provided under contract at client sites. In his new role, Smith plans to maintain the quality and reputation of Dade Moeller Training Academy’s offerings while increasing course attendance. He also looks forward to launching key partnerships with academic institutions and private companies in 2014 that will bring Dade Moeller’s high quality radiation safety training to new students across the country.
Smith is an experienced instructor, both in the field and the classroom, and has supported more than 200 training courses for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Energy Second Line of Defense Program, and the U.S. State Department. As part of Second Line of Defense, Smith has provided instruction on the use of radiation survey devices, hand-held radioisotope identifiers, and radiation portal monitor systems. Smith also has provided non-ionizing radiation expertise for the National Labs, U.S. Department of Defense, National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and several commercial clients. In addition to training, Smith supports the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s radiation dose reconstruction program as a principal external dosimetrist. He will continue this work concurrently with his new management role for Dade Moeller Training Academy.
In 2013, Dade Moeller Training Academy served more than 900 people through its classroom and online courses, and an additional 260 via customized training under contract to public and private customers.
