Max Strang Awarded Silver Medal for Design
Miami, FL (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- The Miami chapter of the American Institute of Architects awarded its Silver Medal for Design to Max Strang at their Design Awards Gala tonight in Downtown Miami. Strang's firm has been at the forefront of Miami's rediscovered appreciation of modernism. In recent years, Max Strang Architecture has reaped numerous accolades with projects being widely published around the world.
The Silver Medal is the highest honor that AIA Miami can bestow. The award recognizes an individual architect for his or her accomplishments over an extended period of time and who, by their example, advances the cause of architecture, the profession and provides inspiration to their fellow architects.
"After decades of embracing false architecture, South Florida has rediscovered the timeless principles of modernism," Strang states. "I cannot think of a more exciting time to be an architect in Miami."
AIA Miami's Silver Medal serves as a reminder that it's not always necessary to import architects from far-flung places. "I'm proud to be in the company of some amazingly talented Miami architects," says Strang. "We are reshaping Miami in very quick order."
Strang began working as an architect in Miami in 2000. It was the design of his own Coconut Grove home that launched his career when it appeared in the Miami Vice film by Michael Mann. Since that time, Strang has become well known for his modernist sensibilities and sophisticated designs. His firm is headquartered in Miami under the direction of partner Jason Adams, and operates a satellite office in Telluride, Colorado. Max Strang Architecture currently has approximately twenty homes "in design" or "under construction" from the Florida Keys to the Colorado Rockies.
“You would be foolish to believe that this award recognizes the creative labors of a single person," Strang acknowledged. "This recognition can also be credited to the many talented, dedicated and energetic people that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Additionally I want to give credit to our clients that gave us their trust."
In addition to the Silver Medal, Strang's firm won another Design Excellence award for the design of a residence in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood.
