Maximo asset management deal for Wightlink
(PRWEB UK) 25 February 2016 -- SRO announces that Wightlink, one of the UK’s largest domestic ferry operators carrying over 4.8 million passengers per annum, completed in December 2015 a 12-month project for the implementation of IBM’s Maximo asset management system with SRO’s SDR technology providing data replication between its vessels and shore.
Maximo has now been successfully deployed at the head office and on board eight vessels, managing all their current planned maintenance activities with the possibility to utilise more of Maximo’s standard off-the-shelf functionality such as inventory, HSE and supply chain in the future. Elwyn Dop, Operations Director, commented on the project’s successful completion.
Maximo and the SDR were selected following detailed investigations including various onsite demonstrations and evidence of SRO’s marine and offshore experience. Particular factors in the selection of the software were it being genuinely best-of-breed, off-the-shelf, with powerful configurability to meet Wightlink’s specific needs, without becoming ‘version locked’ and compromising future software upgrades. The SDR satisfied another mandatory requirement; to be capable of operating offline, in remote environments during periods of internet outage. This combination made a compelling proposition enabling full low-touch data exchange amongst its ferries and shore-based operations. http://www.wightlink.co.uk
