3. Wear sunglasses. The sun's rays can be bad for skin and just as bad for eyes. Studies have linked ultraviolet light to cancer and to macular degeneration.
4. Eat right and exercise. Eating the right foods can reduce inflammation and provide the body with the kind of nutrients necessary to protect against disease. If you someone has a family history of macular degeneration, a supplement with lutein, zeaxanthin, and zinc may help.
