Mayfield Fund Adds Ursheet Parikh as Partner
Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- Mayfield Fund today announced the addition of Ursheet Parikh as Partner. A proven entrepreneur, co-founder, and Chief Executive Officer of Mayfield Fund portfolio company StorSimple, Ursheet rounds out the team with deep cloud, networking, and storage expertise.
“Ursheet has a lean-forward personality, is a proven founder CEO and respected IT executive who will provide hands-on guidance to early-stage entrepreneurs,” said Navin Chaddha, Mayfield Fund Managing Director. “I have worked closely with him at StorSimple, where as CEO he drove strategy and customer adoption and delivered value to employees, investors and strategic partner Microsoft. He will be a key member of our leadership team and help further anchor Mayfield as the go-to firm for cloud, data center, SaaS, and big data-focused entrepreneurs.”
Ursheet is the sixth member of Mayfield’s investment team. Most recently, he was founder and Chief Executive Officer of StorSimple, which was acquired by Microsoft and integrated into its Windows Azure offering, and where he served as a GM of marketing for the server, cloud, and tools business group.
“StorSimple has been a very successful acquisition for Microsoft and we are pleased with the momentum we are seeing in the market,” said Satya Nadella, President, Server Cloud and Tools Business, Microsoft. “Microsoft’s association with StorSimple started as a partnership with our startup teams. We continue to make significant investments to support the global startup ecosystem leading with the newly formed Microsoft Ventures team and also our BizSpark program. We thank Ursheet for his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Prior to StorSimple, Ursheet was a product marketing executive at Cisco, which he joined through the acquisition of Andiamo Systems. At Cisco he took the WAN acceleration product line from concept to market leadership. Prior to that, Ursheet also worked at two other startups and Deloitte Consulting. Ursheet holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and is a computer science & engineering graduate of IIT Bombay.
“As our board member, Navin and the Mayfield Fund team added immense value on strategy, recruiting, and partner connections which led to our eventual acquisition,” said Parikh. “When I considered the next phase of my career, it seemed natural to join their team so I can share my learnings as an entrepreneur and passion for helping early-stage companies find product/market fit with a broad base of entrepreneurs. As Mayfield Fund begins to deploy our fourteenth U.S. focused fund, I’m looking forward to making an impact and delivering returns for our investors.”
