McCoy’s Building Supply Gives Back To Community
San Marcos, Texas (PRWEB) January 17, 2016 -- This past holiday season, McCoy’s Building Supply locations in Georgetown and Taylor partnered with Buy a Tree. Change a Life. to sell Christmas trees to benefit local and international non-profit organizations. Proceeds of over $2,600 per organization were donated to Celebration of Love, The Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center and Serve Taylor After School. In addition, McCoy’s donated 224 trees to area families who may not have been able to afford one of their own.
“Helping raise money for these deserving organizations was very rewarding,” says Carlos Garcia, McCoy’s Georgetown Store Manager. “And we were so excited to donate beautiful trees to families right here in Central Texas…it’s what Christmas is all about.”
“One mom cried when she received a donated Christmas tree because she finally had a place to put her children’s presents,” recalls Monica Benoit-Beatty, Executive Director of The Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center, which provides a safe environment for children to report abuse. “Another family received a real tree for the first time ever and decorating it was a real family bonding experience.” The Center plans to use money from the donation to provide more training to its counselors.
Tom Ramsey, President of Celebration of Love shares, “This donation will benefit all of our programs, including our local food pantry in Round Rock which serves over 200 families each week and also supports Fort Hood's ACS food pantry with canned and dried goods.” Celebration of Love helps military families in need at Fort Hood and throughout Central Texas with campaigns to fight hunger, respond to emergency disaster situations, and provide support for our U.S. veterans, soldiers and their families through its Soldiers of America program.
Serve Taylor After School inspires students to learn, grow and thrive. “This donation helps us to consistently provide at-risk and disadvantaged students with safe, healthy, and encouraging after school care at no charge,” explains Caleb Ripple, Director of Serve Taylor After School. “This will be a great help to our families and the community.”
By selling Christmas trees where all proceeds were given to community non-profits and a vetted international organization, McCoy’s was able to reach a larger community than ever before. “We appreciate our customers’ enthusiastic support and the opportunity for our Taylor and Georgetown store teams to be directly involved in supporting these important causes,” adds Nicole Brosh, McCoy’s Taylor Store Manager.
