McKinleyville Union Elementary School District Selects PowerSchool’s Student Information System for Enhanced Digital Gradebook
Folsom, California (PRWEB) September 13, 2016 -- PowerSchool is partnering with California’s McKinleyville Union Elementary School District to launch a new student information system inclusive of an innovative gradebook. The district, which features a robust enrichment program using standards-based grading, selected PowerSchool’s student information system (SIS) to support its specific needs in providing a responsive digital gradebook for teachers to enable effective communication between educators and parents.
“PowerSchool’s new gradebook, PowerTeacher Pro, was a huge factor in determining what provider our district would select to replace our current student information system,” said Julie Giannini-Previde, Middle School Principal at McKinleyville Union Elementary School District. “The functionality within PowerTeacher Pro will be valuable to our school community. It is important that our families have access to student data at their fingertips and we will be able to provide that to them with PowerSchool.”
The intuitive functionality within the PowerSchool SIS provides school administrators, parents, and students with instant visibility to assignments, scores, grades, comments, and progress toward each standard. PowerSchool provides district families with the ability to monitor student proficiency on standards and receive immediate, real-time alerts specific to their child through innovative tools, including an online parent portal and mobile app. PowerTeacher Pro adapts to any computer or tablet to enable teachers to be effective anywhere and at any time. Its easy-to-use charts and graphs provide a 360º view of student performance across all aspects.
“Our current student information system doesn’t support our grading requirements and isn’t fully web-based,” said Giannini-Previde. “We previously had a separate grading system and manually entered student grades into report cards. It was frustrating for anyone who wanted access to that data.”
PowerSchool will allow families to stay up to date on student performance, while also saving teachers time by eliminating the duplicate work they previously had to do. “Many of our surrounding school districts use PowerSchool,” said Giannini-Previde. “We have received great feedback and help throughout our implementation process. The PowerSchool community is huge and having the ability to tap into that resource is invaluable.”
