MDA Team Momentum Fights Back Against Neuromuscular Disease at the 2015 Marine Corps Marathon
WASHINGTON, D.C., (PRWEB) October 20, 2015 -- The Muscular Dystrophy Association's nationwide endurance program MDA Team Momentum will make its second appearance at the 2015 Marine Corps Marathon on Oct. 25 to help support MDA's mission to save and improve the lives of kids and adults fighting muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life-threatening diseases that severely limit muscle strength and mobility.

Also known as the “People’s Marathon,” the Marine Corps Marathon course takes participants by a number of different national memorials and monuments through Washington, D.C. This year’s race features more than 60 MDA Team Momentum participants who will cross the most meaningful finish line of their life by raising critical funds and awareness to help a accelerate urgently needed progress for people whose abilities to move are compromised — including everyday abilities like walking, running, hugging, talking and even breathing. The team’s 2015 fundraising goal is $75,000.
"Many of Marine Corps Marathon Team Momentum members participate not only to make a difference in the lives of MDA families living in hometowns across America, but also often because someone close to them is battling a neuromuscular disease and running is a way to use their own strength to impact change," said Team Momentum Endurance Manager Chelsea Steed. “Through Team Momentum, members train, endure and triumph together, while making an enormous impact to help accelerate MDA’s progress in muscle disease research and care for the hundreds of thousands of kids and adults who are counting on us.”
Team Momentum offers world-class training that is customized for all levels and abilities, and a supportive community of teammates, volunteers, coaches and mentors. It’s an opportunity to help kids and adults served by MDA live longer and grow stronger while getting fit and having fun.
Members receive invitations to exclusive social events, Team Momentum training and training gear, and race-weekend VIP amenities, such as access to Team Momentum tent, gear check, and private changing areas. Importantly, participants have the opportunity to honor or remember a loved one affected by neuromuscular disease.
