Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services Changes Home Care Registry
Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services will be partnering with two local home care service providers, Tender Heart Home Care and 24Hr HomeCare, to provide non-medical, in-home services for seniors and their families in Contra Costa County.
“This change to a partnership model is really excellent,” said Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services Executive Director Elaine Clark. “Folks will get a high quality of care with better trained caregivers and monitoring by the agencies. If a caregiver is ill or on vacation, the agency can send a replacement. And new state regulations will be enforced by the agencies.”
Both of the partner agencies fully evaluate, train, test, insure, and bond their employees, and both have agreed to provide lower rates to MOWSOS clients; one of them has no minimum number of hours for MOWSOS clients.
This change to the home care registry model is funded in part by a generous grant from the Contra Costa County Area Agency on Aging (AAA). With their support, Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services has maintained a Home Care Registry of non-medical home care providers for more than 20 years.
“We are pleased to continue our low-cost home care referral service for seniors and their families using this new model.” said Clark. “And our free Family Caregiver Workshops also will continue.”
Clients who are currently using a home care provider recommended by MOWSOS may continue working with them for as long as they both want. Home Care providers recommended by MOWSOS have always been independent contractors, not employees of MOWSOS.
