Meals on Wheels & Senior Outreach Services Is Participating in the "We Give 2013" Online Community Fundraiser for Charity
Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) September 18, 2013 -- Meals on Wheels & Senior Outreach Services will be participating in the first annual "We Give" online fundraiser to benefit seniors in Richmond, California and West Contra Costa County. This community event begins at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18th and ends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19th. During the fundraiser, members of the community will be able to access the event at WeGive2Richmond.org to make donations and help to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofits in 36 hours. Participants will be able to contribute to non-profit organizations, and even encourage others to do the same.
The Richmond Community Foundation is hosting We Give 2013 to promote the great work being done by local nonprofits and to make philanthropy fun and accessible to the general public. “We are launching We Give 2013! to help nonprofits reach new donors and show the donors how important it is to give to local causes,” said Joan Davis, President and CEO of the Richmond Community Foundation. “Other metropolitan areas that have held similar events have raised $1 million or more in a single day, and we are challenging the people in the Bay Area to show a similar commitment to our local nonprofits.”
The fundraiser is expected to be the largest giving event in the local community. It coincides with the "Week of Caring," a partnership between United Way of the Bay Area and Volunteer Centers of the East Bay. In addition to individuals, companies are also invited to take part in We Give 2013. Businesses with the highest percentage of employee giving will receive special public recognition after the event. Any individual or business may donate using a credit card or debit card through the WeGive2Richmond.org website and all donations will be tax-deductible.
Meals on Wheels & Senior Outreach Services is urging citizens to help to spread the word about We Give 2013 by becoming community ambassadors, telling friends, emailing colleagues, and sharing the details on Facebook pages.
