MEDA Hosts Maryland’s Statewide Celebration of Economic Development Slated for Next Week
BALTIMORE (PRWEB) October 20, 2017 -- The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA), in partnership with counties and municipalities throughout the state, announces its seventh annual Economic Development Week. Being held on Sunday, Oct. 22, through Saturday, Oct. 28, the weeklong celebration will emphasize the importance of economic development and showcase the efforts and initiatives improving business retention, job growth and quality of life for Maryland residents.
Economic Development Week will emphasize to the general public the importance of economic development for the State of Maryland. The week is designed to increase an understanding of economic development’s contribution to the State’s business climate, job retention and growth, the tax base and the overall quality of life in Maryland.
In anticipation of the celebration, the Maryland Economic Development Association shares various milestones and achievements that economic development offices and entities have made throughout the year. To highlight the impact economic development makes on communities, the hashtag #ThisIsEconDev is used to identify and celebrate these achievements.
As part of Economic Development Week, the MEDA Fall Conference will be held on Oct. 23. The conference will focus on demystifying the process of doing business with the military. Conference conversations will address the many ways economic developers can position the companies in their region to take full advantage of military bases as economic drivers.
“This week is all about showcasing impact,” said Pamela Ruff, executive director of MEDA. “Our focus on ‘This is Economic Development’ will paint a picture of the work accomplished by economic developers and their partners throughout the year.”
