Media General Debuts Three FX Design Group Sets
Ocoee, FL (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- Media General and stations, WFLA-Tampa, WSPA-Greenville/Spartanburg and WCBD-Charleston all have been readying their studios, crews and anchor teams for totally new sets. FX Design Group designed all three sets and though there are similarities, each station has its own unique features and elements.
“Each market has its own personality and look while being light, bright and ever-changing,” said Mack McLaughlin, FX CEO and Design Director. “We were able to bring out the personality of each market while co-opting some technology at better price points.”
Each station sports a very contemporary design with utmost flexibility for breaking news, weather, entertainment and traffic. The highlights are LED curtains, LED color changing vaccuform walls, vertical columns and headers. All three stations have 3 x 3 x 46 monitor walls and 80” touch screens for anchor and reporter interaction. WFLA has a unique 2 x 3 x 46” vertical wall to showcase breaking news, branding or specials.
“We are excited to be giving our viewers modern and technologically-advanced news sets that give us innovative ways to tell stories” said Donna M. Reed, Media General VP of Content. “These sets move each newscast forward with breaking news, visual storytelling and graphic presentation.”
The beauty of an ever-changing set is that the color and graphics can serve as news branding showcases in nearly every situation. WSPA has the ability to change color in the weather center for severe weather coverage. WFLA has as much shot versatility as nearly any set designed by FX Creative Group with over 40 recorded camera shots. WCBD’s multiple technology centers highlight and showcase every piece of the newscast.
“We were looking for as much versatility in these sets as possible,” said Mark Turner, VP of Technology for Media General. “For instance, WFLA has 15 different shooting locations to showcase every news, weather, traffic and entertainment possibility they can dream up.”
