PITTSBURGH (PRWEB) October 24, 2017 -- Even adult hospital patients get tangled in or disconnect their IV lines at times. So, it’s easy to understand that the same thing happens to fragile neonatal infants. Fortunately, an inventor from Stanchfield, Minn., conceived of a way to prevent this from happening.
She developed the patent-pending AVA SLEEVE to keep compromised newborns from pulling out their IV lines and other medical cords. As such, it reduces the chances of risk to a baby’s health and life. At the same time, it provides a calming effect because of its resemblance to a baby’s umbilical cord. Besides bringing comfort and enjoyment to newborns in ICU, it protects the medical lines and cords against damage. This useful idea is also convenient, effective and affordably priced. In addition, it is lightweight, portable and easy to use.
The inventor’s professional experience inspired the idea. “Working as a nurse, I was tired of having to put mittens on babies’ hands so they couldn’t pull out the medical lines and IVs being used to monitor and sustain them,” she said. “I got this idea after watching babies hold onto their umbilical cord for comfort.”
