Medical Recovery Services Celebrates 20 Year Anniversary

The company’s mission is for the public to only pay what is “True & Accurate” and “Fair & Reasonable” on their medical bills.
Pat Palmer, founder and CEO of Medical Recovery Services and its sister company, Medical Billing Advocates of America, began MRS in July 1994. At the time, she had been working for a leading health insurance company and decided to open the business after numerous local consumers had approached her for help with receiving accurate health insurance reimbursements. Pat began to delve into analyzing medical bills and found huge inconsistencies at an alarmingly high rate. It was then that Medical Recovery Services was brought into existence.
Throughout Pat’s 20 years of dedicated service to the nation’s consumers and Corporate America, she has been a witness to a host of questionable billing practices from the healthcare industry, and the new abusive billing practices that continue to emerge.
According to Pat, some of the latest medical bill over-charges are found in bills for robotic surgery (computer-assisted procedures), trauma activation fees and incorrect patient status (for example, when a patient is never admitted as an inpatient although they have been admitted to an inpatient room and have been in the facility for more than 24 hours). What’s most alarming, Pat states, is that the frequency of abusive over-charging is becoming more frequent with each passing year.
As Pat’s businesses have continued to steadily grow throughout the years, her unique workplace has become home to more than 40 employees, each with knowledge of a particular area of the healthcare industry, making her company the most knowledgeable medical bill auditing firm and medical billing advocacy group in the United States. MRS has outgrown its current office at 500 E 4th Street in Salem, Virginia and will be moving into a 12,000 square foot facility at 3517 Brandon Ave SW, 2nd Floor, Roanoke, VA 24018 to coincide with the company’s anniversary. MRS invites media professionals to share in its celebration of 20 years in business with a series of open house events at their new location on Wednesday, July 23, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Saturday, July 26, 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. A variety of refreshments will be served on all three days and facility tours will be given throughout each day, as well.
During the facility tour, guests will be introduced to MRS’ and MBAA’s new educational training area within the facility. The public will have the opportunity to meet Pat on all three days. Saturday’s events will include special activities for consumers, including a free medical bill review and a book-signing with Pat for the newest edition of her book, MBAA’s Guide to Surviving Your Medical Bills, 2nd Edition: What You Need to Know Before You Pay a Dime.
