Medical Solutions Announces Nurses of Tomorrow Scholarship Winners
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) July 29, 2014 -- Healthcare staffing agency Medical Solutions is happy to announce its 2014 Nurses of Tomorrow Scholarship Competition winners:
• Alonso B., Sophomore, Carrington College in Reno, NV
• Racheal D., Freshman, Cerritos College in Norwalk, CA
• Amanda W., Junior, Houston Community College in Houston, TX
Each year, in celebration of Nurses Week, Medical Solutions hosts the Nurses of Tomorrow Scholarship competition as a way to support the education of future nurses, nurse leaders, and nurse educators. Each winner receives a $1000 scholarship to help assist with his or her tuition and/or related expenses.
In addition to certain academic requirements, this year’s entrants were tasked with writing a brief essay answering the question: “What will you do as a nurse to ensure you always provide exceptional patient care?”
Alonso wrote that he would never forget the value of compassion.
“I will treat my patients with the same care and kindness that I would my own mother or brother,” Alonso wrote. “Being supportive and empathetic should be as high of a priority for nurses as washing their hands. As my nursing instructors have told me, ‘Remember, we are treating patients, not diseases.’”
Rachael wrote that “Exceptional care is being part of a human interaction,” and Amanda recalled her “nursing role model” Mary, and expressed her goal to “be someone’s Mary” by providing exceptional patient care as a nurse.
