MediSend Awarded Certification as Career School and College
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) February 20, 2015 -- MediSend Biomedical Equipment Technology School™ has received certification as a Career School and College from the Texas Workforce Commission, an important factor in transferring credit hours to other reputable institutions should graduates decide to obtain advanced education and degrees.
In 2006, MediSend developed an intensive, fast-track biomedical technology program to train and educate professional biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs) for developing country hospitals. MediSend has since trained and equipped technicians for over 20 countries in the developing world. In 2012, Medisend’s Biomedical Equipment Technology Program™ received approval from the US BMET Board of Examiners and the United States Certification Commission.
With employment of biomedical technicians projected to grow up to 30 percent in the US over the next decade, MediSend recognized the domestic need and in 2013 opened the General Richard B. Myers Veterans Biomedical Equipment Technology Program™ to returning US veterans. Veterans graduating from the General Myers Program have found careers at healthcare organizations such as Baylor Scott & White Health, DaVita Dialysis, Aramark Healthcare, Becton Dickinson as well as the US Military.
In 2014, with the help of Perkins+Will Architects, MediSend opened new classrooms and laboratories, offering students the opportunity to study and train in a state-of-the-art environment with a high instructor to student ratio. The MediSend Biomedical Equipment Technology School™ is located in the Elisabeth Dahan Humanitarian Center, MediSend’s global headquarters, in Dallas, Texas.
