MedSpring Urgent Care Kicks Off Multi-City Food Drive and Donation Matching
Austin, TX (PRWEB) November 14, 2014 -- MedSpring Urgent Care (http://www.medspring.com/) has formally kicked-off their 2014 food drive initiative to support local food banks in Texas and Illinois where it operates centers. Collection stations have been set-up in each of its 17 locations in Austin, Chicago, Dallas and Houston to collect non-perishable food donations from the community, visiting patients and employees. MedSpring Urgent Care will also be matching donated food pound-for-pound.
"We are excited to host our first food drive across all of our locations in Texas and Chicago this year,” said MedSpring President, Astrid Stracke. “As a company deeply embedded in the local communities we are privileged to serve, we will continue to find meaningful ways to give back.”
The food drive begins today and will continue through December 31, 2014. Food donations can be dropped off at any MedSpring location which are open every day, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. The best donations are non-perishable foods in sealed jars, or cans with pull-top lids. Highest need foods include items like canned beans, canned chili, soup, stew, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, canned vegetables, tuna, pasta and pasta sauces.
In Austin, MedSpring is partnering with Capital Area Food Bank of Texas and will be collecting food at all seven Austin urgent care locations. Last year, the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas provided over 24.5 million meals.
At the first Dallas-based MedSpring location that opened last month, the center will be collecting for the North Texas Food Bank which helps feed the nearly 25% of North Texan children who are hungry.
In Houston, food will be donated to the Houston Food Bank which feeds over 800,000 people each year. Residents in Katy, Kingwood, Sugar Land, and Houston can drop off food donations at any of the five nearby MedSpring centers around the Houston area.
In Chicago, food may be dropped off at MedSpring Immediate Care facilities in Arlington Heights, Naperville, Lakeview or River North. All donations will be benefiting the Greater Chicago Food Depository which gives healthy meals to the nearly 800,000 Cook County residents who are unsure of their next meal.
