Meena Vad Completes Lecture and Book Signing Events Educating Older Americans About Yoga
Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- Author and Spiritual Consultant Meena Vad has just wrapped up a series of talks with small community groups in response to her book, Yoga for Age 60+, released just over a year ago. Called to talk to senior citizens about the benefits of yoga, and how to begin a practice later in life, Vad encourages and coaches recent retirees and older people based on her on experiences. In her book, she recalls anecdotally how her own practices from childhood onward helped her cope both physically and mentally with life's challenges. She then explains how the body can be kept functional and even youthful, as well as gives specific remedies and poses for various ailments.
Meena Vad also explains the emotional, psychological, and spiritual side of yoga as well, and how it is critical in one's later years to touch on these topics, and come to peace with them after a lifetime of activity and sometimes struggle. Her lectures delve deeper into some of the chapter headings in her book, bringing to light topics such as pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, and bhakti (the art and science of devotion). Vad also demonstrates how yoga can easily be incorporated as part of one's daily routine and lifestyle. She asks the audience to participate at times in various exercises designed to bring to life the principles she covers in each lecture.
"The senior generation is the foundation of any society in any nation," Vad explains. "It is our responsibility to keep this foundation strong and stable." And Meena Vad is certainly doing just that, as her readership audience grows, and her speeches enliven audiences in search of this information, or who are just curious.
