Meghan E. Gutierrez Named Lymphoma Research Foundation Chief Program, Policy and Communications Officer
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 23, 2013 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – today announced the appointment of Meghan E. Gutierrez as Chief Program, Policy and Communications Officer.
“Meghan is an accomplished and trusted leader, and the ideal person to serve in this newly created executive role,” said LRF Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Thompson. “As we considered what we needed and wanted, we knew our search started and ended with her strengths. Meghan has earned a national reputation as a mission-focused, strategic, results-directed professional. We know that Meghan's distinctive background will bring a deeper focus on integration of LRF’s programming platforms and a heightened sensibility around communicating impact and outcomes from those mission investments. We are absolutely delighted to have her talent, passion and drive as we focus on the future.”
Gutierrez will be responsible for all Foundation mission functions, including patient education and services, research and mentorship programming, public policy and advocacy, communications and marketing. Gutierrez previously served as Chief Communications Officer.
“I am excited by this significant opportunity to expand the Foundation’s mission programs,” Gutierrez said. “The Lymphoma Research Foundation is a remarkable organization and I look forward to furthering its vital mission to serve people with lymphoma and eradicate this disease forever.”
A specialist in communications and public policy, Gutierrez joined LRF in 2008 after serving as a health policy advisor at Columbia University. Prior to her work at Columbia, Gutierrez was a Congressional staff member for one of the U.S. House of Representatives’ foremost leaders on health care issues. Upon concluding these duties, Gutierrez became a leader in successful efforts to implement state and federal policies to combat youth drug abuse at the Partnership for a Drug Free America. Ms. Gutierrez earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa.
Both Gutierrez and Chief Operating Officer Lisa Vogel will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), putting into place the Foundation’s new executive leadership team. Ms. Thompson joined the organization as CEO in September; Vogel joined LRF in 2009, after holding several senior finance and operation roles at JPMorganChase, where she spent over twenty years. “This is a dynamic leadership team and I am thrilled to begin expanding the Foundation’s critical work,” Thompson shared.
