Melissa Fortner Named Executive Director for The Village at Orchard Ridge
Winchester, VA (PRWEB) August 26, 2015 -- The Village at Orchard Ridge—A National Lutheran Community (TVOR) in Winchester, Va., announced Melissa Fortner as its Executive Director effective August 24, 2015. Fortner brings 20 years of senior living experience, most recently as Vice President of Supportive Living for Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.
“I am delighted to be joining the National Lutheran family, specifically The Village at Orchard Ridge,” Fortner said. “I look forward to being a part of this community’s success, as well as helping to develop more opportunities to connect our services with those who wish to age well.”
Fortner’s expertise is in designing and implementing operational and strategic plans, with a record of transforming institutional-style nursing models into resident-focused social models. She spearheaded the first Green House project in Virginia, which focuses on delivering care to seniors in a homelike atmosphere. Fortner has a B.S. in Health Care Administration from East Tennessee State University and an M.B.A. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She is a frequent conference speaker and presenter at LeadingAge and a guest lecturer at James Madison University. She also formerly served on the boards of Harrisonburg-Rockingham Chamber of Commerce and Generations Crossing Adult and Child Daycare.

The Village at Orchard Ridge in Winchester, Va., is a new continuing care retirement community (CCRC) on 132-acres in the Shenandoah Valley. The community opened in February 2013 and offers independent living cottage homes and apartments with in-home services, memory care, and skilled nursing for both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation. Currently, The Village at Orchard Ridge is in Phase 2 of construction, which will include additional independent living apartments and cottages, a wellness center with an indoor pool, and the expansion of dining areas and skilled nursing. Construction is expected to be completed in 2016.
