Members of Congress and the Hoops For Youth Foundation Battle It Out For Local Kids
Fairfax, Virginia (PRWEB) September 03, 2015 -- The Hoops for Youth Foundation will host its 17th Annual Congressional Fall Classic on Tuesday, September 8th, 2015. Congress will challenge K Street lobbyists in this exciting, and competitive, basketball game for annual bragging rights.
The event kicks-off with a coaching clinic for over 100 kids from supported charities. The first game tips-off is at 6:00 pm with congressional staffers looking to keep their winning streak alive. The main event pitting members of Congress v. lobbyists will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. at the George Washington University Smith Center, where the members hope to extend their winning streak. Admission to the event is free and a lot of fun for the entire family!
“This is a great opportunity for members on both sides of the aisle to come together and raise money for very deserving kids,” said Paul Miller, Chairman of the Hoops for Youth Foundation. “I can’t think of a better way to set aside partisan differences than to get out on the court for a good cause, and have a great time in the process. My early prediction is the lobbyists will finally add another win to their column,” Miller added.
All proceeds and donations from the event go to the support, development, and programs of at-risk D.C. youth.
Playing for the members are:
Major Leader Kevin McCarthy
Majority Whip Steve Scalise
Sen. Jeff Flake
