Memorex-CE Invites Fans to Join the Resistance with the “Memorex Lives!” Make-A-Scene Video Contest
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2015 -- MEM-CE, LLC (MEM-CE) the exclusive North American licensee of the Memorex® brand for Consumer Electronics, today kicked off its “Memorex Lives!” online video contest that invites consumers to create a “make-a-scene” video featuring a Hollywood actor for a once in a lifetime chance at breaking into Hollywood. Ten finalists’ videos will be chosen in December for visitors to vote on their favorite video. On January 8, 2016, the Grand Prize winner will be announced and will secure a walk-on role in a 2016 production by The Asylum, one of the world's leading brand-oriented motion picture and television studios, plus an invitation to audition for a speaking role and if the Grand Prize winner has a screenplay, he or she will have the opportunity to schedule a screenwriter pitch meeting with The Asylum producers. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a Memorex CrystalVision Ultra 55” 4K UHDTV with sound bar and subwoofer. Second Place will receive a 42” Memorex CrystalVision HDTV with sound bar and subwoofer while Third Place will receive a 32” Memorex CrystalVision HDTV. From now until Dec. 10, consumers can upload their video masterpieces to http://www.memorexlives.com.
“Millions of people dream of becoming the next great entertainer or film director and with social media, they’re able to share their talents through Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Vine,” explains Manuel Madriz, General Manager of MEM-CE, the exclusive licensee of the Memorex brand for North America. “With the ‘Memorex Lives!’ video contest, we are aiming to give back to our fans by helping them achieve their dreams of breaking into the entertainment industry.”
To create a successful contest, MEM-CE teamed up with New York based digital studio and creative agency MagicBullet Media, accomplished veterans of the user generated content space. Over the years, the agency has helped launch highly acclaimed contests such as Doritos Crash the Super Bowl, Lay’s “Do Us A Flavor,” Bath & Bodyworks’ MyPocketBac and Panasonic’s “Shoot It. Share It.” The “Memorex Lives!” video narrative aims to give fans the power to create entertaining content, as well as give them a platform to be discovered. “Memorex Lives!” was directed by MagicBullet Media’s Creative Director George Bennett.
The contest builds upon the episodic series of PANDORA radio spots, The Professor series, created by London based Innovation agency Fearlessly Frank, where the Professor (a survivor of the Evil Empire’s efforts to extort unfair prices for consumer electronics from consumers) calls back through time (from 2071) to warn today’s Millennial generation to JOIN THE RESISTANCE and unite against them.
Giving the “Memorex Lives!” make-a-scene video contest its Hollywood touch is actor, singer, and producer Joey Lawrence who partnered with MEM-CE to play the role of superhero action star Brock Firestone, leader of “The Resistance” against The Evil Empire (tech giants). In the video, Lawrence’s character Brock Firestone urges millennials to join “The Resistance” by only buying fairly priced Memorex products that deliver the same level of entertainment for less than what the premium brands are demanding. Lawrence is best known for his roles as Joey Russo in Blossom, Joe Roman in Brotherly Love, and as Joe Longo in Melissa & Joey.
“The 'Memorex Lives!’ contest is such an exciting program because it gives aspiring actors and filmmakers the opportunity to break into Hollywood,” Lawrence said. “I really enjoyed playing the character Brock Firestone because he's intense but very comical at the same time. I can't wait to see how people will react with my character in the video contest!”
In July 2015, MEM-CE announced their partnership with The Asylum who is best known for their original productions and top-rated movie premieres for Syfy, Lifetime, and Animal Planet networks, such as the SHARKNADO franchise and Z NATION, the critically acclaimed action-horror series on Syfy. Through the partnership, Memorex products will be making appearances throughout episodes in season 2 of the Z Nation series. The products receiving a cameo appearance in the show will be identified on retail packaging “as seen on Z Nation.” Products carrying the Z Nation Logo will begin appearing on packages this fall in time for the holiday gift-giving season.
“We’re excited to see all our talented fans competing in the 'Memorex Lives!’ contest, and we’re even more excited about the possibility of discovering the next Sharknado or Z Nation!” David Michael Latt, CEO and co-founder of The Asylum, explains.
How the “Memorex Lives!” Online Video Contest Works:
Participants are encouraged to visit http://www.memorexlives.com where they can upload and insert seven 10-20 second entertaining homemade video clips to “make-a-scene” with Joey Lawrence as fictional, action-hero movie star Brock Firestone. The goal for every participant is to create the ultimate scene about joining “The Resistance” against The Evil Empire of tech giants who are taking over the world with overpriced products.
Together with MagicBullet Media, MEM-CE will choose 10 finalists who will compete against each other by popular vote starting on December 17, 2015. Three lucky winners will claim the following prizes:
