Memorial Healthcare System Expands Its Online Quality, Safety Data And Self-Pay Rates, Empowering Consumers To Make Informed Healthcare Decisions
Hollywood, Fl (PRWEB) July 26, 2016 -- Memorial Healthcare System continues to expand its transparency program, titled “Right to Know,” by publishing additional quality and safety data and self-pay rates for specific medical procedures. The quality and safety results are available on each facility, as well as services that include cancer, cardiac, neuroscience, rehabilitation, bariatric, and labor and delivery.
“Memorial has taken a giant step forward in being open and accessible in our relationship with healthcare consumers and patients,” said Aurelio Fernandez, President and CEO, Memorial Healthcare System. “ The Memorial Transparency Initiative: Right to Know is a system-wide effort to promote greater understanding among our patient’s by publishing unedited data in categories including quality and safety, patient satisfaction, facility volume, and consumer self-pay rates.”
Memorial was among the first in the South Florida market to publish online information of this kind. It has kept adding information for consumers ever since. The currently published self-pay rates vary in complexity from a simple blood test to a C-section or bariatric surgical procedures.
The quality and safety information is organized in three different categories that provide a user-friendly approach to understanding the data. These categories include: patient satisfaction, showcasing patient experience; quality and safety, providing Memorial’s effectiveness and safety of common procedures; and Memorial system and facility volumes, exhibiting number of patients treated for medical services.
Consumers also can use graphs to compare data between Memorial figures and national and state benchmarks.
“We possess the deep and abiding conviction that transparency will empower our patients,” Fernandez said. “Motivated by our over-arching commitment to providing Deeper Caring and Smarter Healthcare, we have a moral and ethical imperative to help patients make the best healthcare decisions for themselves and their families,”
