Memphis Teen Launches IndieGogo Campaign To Promote Subscription Box To Inspire Young People Of Color
Memphis, Tennessee (PRWEB) April 12, 2018 -- Black Butterfly Beautiful, a subscription box created by 17-year-old Journi Prewitt to encourage reading and self-love in youth of color recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to help finance its growing business. The funds will also aid its continued efforts to ensure subscribers a quality experience month-to-month with each box which features books and items such as toys, accessories, and personal care products that celebrate black culture.
On Tuesday, April 3, BBB launched its Indiegogo campaign with the goal of raising $10,000 to meet its growing number of subscribers, provide subscribers with quality boxes and accommodate business expansion. For one month backers will have the opportunity to help through donations, which will help not only the business, but it will also assist in building confidence, self-esteem, and security in youth of color ages 4 to 19.
“When you donate to our campaign you are showing every young person of color that you care by helping them to embrace their heritage and themselves,” said Prewitt, “Let’s infuse a feeling of pride and create a nation of strong and self-assured children.”
Since its inception, Black Butterfly Beautiful has been growing at a steady rate but it has recently run into some challenges. Its need for capital for better materials and online resources has stifled the growth of this much-needed community staple, so Journi decided to launch this campaign to raise the necessary funds.
“The main focus is our subscribers, and we want to make sure that we are giving them quality boxes every month from the packaging to the contents on the inside,” according to Prewitt. “I’m so excited about how Black Butterfly Beautiful is growing, but with growth it requires us to meet the new demand which is where we need help,” she added.
You can choose to donate $10-$1,500 towards the campaign. “As a backer you don’t just give to the cause, but you benefit as a result of your donation through the many perks we offer,” said Prewitt. “Our perks include some of our branded items, subscriptions, sponsorships, and the opportunity for black-owned businesses to be featured in a box.”
