MENTIS Positioned as Challenger in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Masking
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- MENTIS Software (http://www.mentisoftware.com), the leading provider of Information Lifecycle Management for Sensitive Data™ solutions, today announced that Gartner, Inc., a leading IT research and advisory firm, has positioned MENTIS as a Challenger in its December 2013 Magic Quadrant for Data Masking Technology report. Gartner’s Magic Quadrant evaluation is based on its assessment of the vendor’s completeness of vision and ability to execute. In the inaugural Magic Quadrant for Data Masking report published in December, 2012, MENTIS was named as a “visionary” and improves a year later to “Challenger” in its market.
According to the report, authored by Joseph Feiman and Brian Lowans, Gartner recommends that organizations should use data masking to protect sensitive data at rest and in transit. Sensitive personal data, such as credit card information or Social Security numbers, and corporate sensitive information, such as financial results and intellectual property, are at risk of being “exposed to abuse or negligence from enterprise employees and outsiders.”
“We are extremely proud to have MENTIS recognized in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Data Masking Technology for a second consecutive year,” stated Rajesh Parthasarathy, CEO of MENTIS. “Moving up from a visionary position in the first Magic Quadrant to challenger in this year’s Magic Quadrant affirms our continued success and innovation in delivering proven software to manage and protect sensitive data through its entire lifecycle.”
MENTIS has a broad suite of solutions that help customers discover, protect, and manage the vast volumes of data they are tasked with securing. “From the moment it is created, data is at risk wherever it is stored or accessed,” Parthasarathy stated. “Every organization has the dilemma of maintaining the accessibility and usefulness of data while protecting it from abuse. Our software helps companies manage and protect this vital information, without getting in the way of business.”
In the December 2013 publication of the Magic Quadrant for Data Masking Technology report, Gartner states “Mentis will meet the needs of enterprises that are looking for strong discovery technology; friendly support, mentoring, and a willingness to understand and accommodate client requirements.” Gartner also cites MENTIS’ portfolio of solutions, noting the strong data discovery capabilities as well as the technologies beyond data masking that protect data in real time.
