Mercy Health and River Valley Health Partners Sign Letter of Intent to Partner
East Liverpool, Ohio (PRWEB) December 18, 2014 -- Mercy Health (formally Humility of Mary Health Partners) and River Valley Health Partners (RVHP), which operates East Liverpool City Hospital, River Valley Physicians, and Ohio Valley Home Health, have entered into a letter of intent to fully integrate with one another, officials announced today.
The two organizations had originally signed a letter of intent in February of 2014, however due to various reasons, the project was halted. Since the resolution of those issues, the Board of Directors and senior leadership of RVHP have worked extensively with Mercy Health to formalize another agreement. "We have remained steadfast in our commitment to provide high quality healthcare, the needed financial stability, and healthcare leadership that our community deserves. The reality is that RVHP will be able to serve more patients in more ways with Mercy Health by its side," commented Kenneth Cochran, RVHP President and CEO. "The community's interest has always been and will always be our top priority."
Opened in 1905, East Liverpool City Hospital's origins are rooted in providing healthcare solutions for the East Liverpool community. Board of Trustees Chair Pete Wicks said, "Our board has consistently felt that Mercy Health was the perfect partner to address the future health care needs of our community"
Over the next several weeks, Mercy Health will work closely with RVHP administrators, board members, and medical staff members to prepare a seamless transition which will benefit patients, physicians, and the respective communities. Pending regulatory approval and finalization of terms, the official merger will likely occur late first quarter of 2015. Until that time, RVHP and Mercy Health will continue providing high quality patient care in their respective communities.
