Metalogix StoragePoint Achieves VSPEX Labs Validation for EMC Isilon Platforms

Metalogix StoragePoint is the leading Remote BLOB Storage (RBS) product that externalizes SharePoint content to improve performance, scale, content security, backup/recovery and overall TCO. StoragePoint moves unstructured SharePoint data, known as Binary Large Objects (BLOBs), from the SQL Server to optimized and affordable external storage tiers, including SAN, NAS and the cloud. StoragePoint improves SharePoint performance, enables storage tiering for SharePoint, helps meet regulatory compliance, and drastically improves backup times.

The VSPEX Ecosystem program enables ISVs, such as Metalogix, to validate their offering as part of a VSPEX solution in the EMC Lab. Metalogix channel partners benefit by having a tested and validated solution along with a best practice deployment guide that describes the steps to deploy Metalogix StoragePoint on the VSPEX Proven Infrastructure with Isilon solution.

Metalogix also announced support for Isilon’s SmartLock feature, which is included in StoragePoint and began shipping in April 2015. StoragePoint’s Isilon adapter will externalize SharePoint content to Isilon and, if defined by user policy, utilize Isilon’s SmartLock services to apply data retention to SharePoint content. SmartLock prevents data from being altered or deleted for a designated period of time, protecting documents from accidental, premature or malicious alteration or deletion. StoragePoint will automatically apply a specified SmartLock retention period to all existing and new content based on user policy. Additionally, rules can be created to update SmartLock retention based on SharePoint events, like metadata changing.
