Miami Area Residents Raise more than $65,000 for the Lymphoma Research Foundation at Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 18, 2017 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – returned to Miami Beach, FL to host its nationally recognized fundraising series Swirl: A Wine Tasting Event on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the La Gorce Country Club. The event, hosted in partnership with Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, raised more than $65,000 in support of LRF’s mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those affected by this disease.
World renowned wine expert Eric Hemer, Certified Wine Educator, Master Sommelier, Master of Wine, Senior Vice President, and Corporate Director of Wine Education for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits was on hand to review a selection of fine wines from France generously donated by Southern Glazer’s.
“As Swirl continues to grow both in the Miami Beach area and across the nation, we remain committed to bringing people together for the benefit of such a wonderful cause,” said Hemer. “As a long-time partner of the Lymphoma Research Foundation, Southern Glazer’s knows that nights like tonight mean much more to the blood cancer community than a standard wine tasting event – they are critical to providing hope for a cure within our lifetime.”
Each year, nearly than 5,500 Floridians are diagnosed with lymphoma – the most common form of blood cancer. Now in its fourth year, Swirl: Miami has raised more than $200,000 in support of the Lymphoma Research Foundation and its mission to eradicate lymphoma and serve those touched by this disease. This year’s event drew more than 150 members of the South Florida community in the spirit of philanthropy at the La Gorce Country Club on Tuesday.
“The South Florida community has supported Swirl since its inception, and each year, it continues to turn out in incredible numbers, raising critical funds and awareness for lymphoma research,” said Leigh Olson, Event Co-Chair and Member, LRF Board of Directors. “With the continued generosity of Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, we were once again able to bring the community together for the benefit of all those impacted by this blood cancer.”
